Well it has been a while since I updated Calvin´s Corner but it seams that the summertime is a good time to catch up with what has happened over the last few months and what the future brings on the progressive scene. No doubt that a lot has happened on the scene here in Denmark, Heineken showed the way and brought us Lexicon Avenue, Pete Gooding, Infusion, Sander Kleinenberg, Roger Sanchez and Pete Tong to Copenhagen. The Roskilde Festival showed a more diverse program on the electronic front and the highlights were Infusion, Fluke, Karl Bartos, Fat Boy Slim and Zero7. The next few months also gives us Daren Emerson that will head up the big Tuborg Green Beat event and we will also see an interesting line-up for the Public Service event spanning the clubs of Copenhagen and on the 28th of August Kasey Taylor is back in town – you can find more info on this in the Club Guide.

Let’s take a look back on what has been released over the last few months and a look into what the future brings of releases on vinyl.

One of my favourite producers has made his own label – Shine Music. Max Graham has for me been a constant joy to listen to or to experience as a DJ. After the release of his Shine compilation, he has released his first 12” in many years. “Coastline” is still the massive rolling sound from Max Graham but with a much harder hitting sound. Next up from Shine Music is the massive Piece Process “New Driver / United Nations” a fantastic track that will appeal to trance and progressive lovers. Later in August we will see the fantastic vocal track from Jase From Outta Space “Do What You Want” featuring two remixes from Max Graham, a mix from Infusion and a mix from MV. Later in the year we will see the Madoka “Altered”. Max Graham has also done his duty on remixes on Madoka “Afterburner” set to be released later in the year on Private Reality. Both Madoka tracks were featured on Max Graham´s “Shine” compilation. Madoka has also released “Distant Memories” also released on Private Reality and they have remixed Powerplant “Turn It Into Gold” out on Release Records. Piece Process has also released on Loöq Records “Move Your Body / Right Or Wrong” and under the Phunk Police guise “Falling Starts”.

John Graham aka. Quivver has been busy. Releasing his own productions on his own label Boz Boz, latest the Blades “Real” collaborations and the forthcoming “These Are The Days”. On the Electric Music People label he has collaborated with Sutton on “Cold Rush” and on Lost Language he has joined forces with his old mates in Tilt and has done “I Know You’re Afraid” that is the flip side of the new Tilt release “The World Doesn’t Know” a new and more open sound from the guys. Tilt (Mick Park, Mick Wilson and Andy Moor (newcomer to the group) will soon be releasing their debut album “Explorer” on Lost Language. But we are still waiting for the brilliant collaboration John Graham did with Blackwatch on “Loveless” that was featured on Paul Oakenfold´s “Great Wall” compilation. Blackwatch has also been busy remixing Iio “Smooth” and done a wonderful track “Gentle Rain” together with Geed out on Release Elements and SOG. Geed has also made a fantastic remix of Engelpost remix of Peter Gabriel´s “Darkness” that is been released on SOG Chrome. It’s reported that Peter Gabriel was so impressed with the remix that he let be released on SOG.

On Vapour Recordings in near future comes Kasey Taylor & Chris Meehan “Biotics”, Sumantri “Imagination” and Chris Micali “So Easy / Your Life Better”. Chris Micali has also released “Léavsion / Out There” on Fade Records and on Blueprint he has released “Chant”. Kasey Taylor has also done “Parallel Reflection” out on Feed Me Records together with Chris Meehan. A whole stock pile of Thomas Penton tracks has been released over the last few months, including two releases on two Danish labels. “Distorted Reality” is out on Nervine Records and “Monolith / Settle The Score” out on Nano Beat. Harry Lemon (Lemon8) has yet again done some brilliant remixes; Zagros & Pacific “The Grand” out on Scent and Girl Nobody “Cages” out on Release Records. If you get a chance to get hold of the Martin H remix of Inkfish “How Can I Believe” then you are in for a massive surprise. On the Spanish label Beat Freak, have a look out for D-Formation (Dimas) “Continnental Drift”, “The Third Dimension” and “Signs & Portents” they should keep you moving on the dance floor. On Intenso Recordings Simon & Shaker “Darkproviders” is a masterpiece.

The first original track from Deep Dish in many many years “Flashdance” is a front runner for their forthcoming album (no release date yet). Also released on their Yoshitoshi label is a Limited 3 vinyl pack with Various Artists (Sophie Moleta, Chiapet, 6400 Crew and Shmuel Flash). On promo you can find Deepsky “Talk Like A Stranger” with remixes from Skylar and Markus Schulz. On SAW recordings Morgan Page “Falling” is out and later Niki B & Christian EFFE –“Behind The Fame” will be released. Markus Schulz is also behind the wonderful “Clear Blue” that was the first release of the Electronic Elements label that also just have released Peter Martin “Perfect Wave. On Dave Seaman’s label Audiotherapy comes a double pack of Dave Seaman’s own “My Own Worst Enemy”. Baroque keeps on releasing fantastic records, Seragaki “Ryukyu Underground” (Quivver and Junkie XL remixes) and Shauna Solomon “You Are” are the latest releases. James Holden´s label Border Community keeps on releasing some of the best progressive break beat tracks around, to name the latest Petter “Six Songs EP” and Nathan Fake “The Sky Was Pink” that also will include a James Hoden remix.

A lot of bootleg remixes have seen their releases, here are some of them. Tears For Fears “Shout” by Skylar has been a huge success and Mercury has now released it official. Another Tears For Fears track is “Mothers Talk” in a Greed remix that will be released on RR1000. Also out on RR1000 is Lemon8 remix of Yazoo “Don’t Go”, Thomas Penton remix of Mary J. Blige “Real Love”, Sultan & Tone Depth remix of Portishead “Roads” and Blackwatch remix of Lenny Kravitz “Believe”. Visage “Fade To Grey” has also undergone a progressive transformation. Madoka has also been in the bootleg shop and has put together a remix of “Dub Be Good To Me”. Bjork has also been bootlegged in a massive way. Luke Chable & Chris Gainer have remixed “An Echo, A Stain”. “Kindness kind” has been beefed up and the Introvert version of “Joga” was featured on James Zabielas Essential Mix. Luke Chable has also remixed Sasha´s “Cloud Cookoo”. Brian Eno´s “An Ending” has undergone a Leama & Moor transformation. Leftfield “Open Up” and Chris Lake vs. Leftfield “Phatter Planet", Matthew Dekay vs. Beastie Boys “Intergalactic” and Sander Kleinenberg remix of Madonna´s “Hollywood” are also out there.
