Calvin's Corner # 1

Once again I bring you the sounds of progressive house music. But let me start on another node. After 19 years the best Danish recordstore Street Dance Records has closed their shop in Copenhagen and the vinyl junkies are desperate looking for an alternative way of getting their weekly dose of trance, house and progressive. Myself I’ve turned to the Internet and have found some very good shops and it has been a positive experience so far, but I still misses the personal contact buying a record. Anyway let me give you an update on what is going on in the progressive world of music.

Depeche Mode’s “Only When I Lose My Self” has been hammering around in a Lexicon Avenue remix, and now it’s available on a limited onside white label, get it while you can. It’s massive. Also out as white labels is Bill Hamel’s remix of Lamb’s “Gabriel” and “Gorekki”. Sander Kleinenberg has gone a little commercial, remixing Justin Timerlake’s “Rock Your Body” and a rumoured remix for the Appelton Sisters. He has also done a remix of BT’s forthcoming single “Somnabulist” (that also includes remixes from Junkie XL and Burufunk) and his third instalment of his “4 Seasons EP” will be out in May on his own record label “Little Mountain Recordings”. From the Bedrock label comes Fortunato and Montresor “Imagine” in a great Pole Folder remix, Herbal Infusion ”The Hunter” in a Herbal Club Mix and Steiger Mix, later a Chris Fortier remix package will be released. Upcoming releases are a double pack of Steiger’s “Postcard From The Edge” and Brancaccio And Aisher “Everybody”.

Quivver (John Graham) has been working together with his old mates Parks and Wilson (Tilt) on the “Little Left Of Centre EP” and has released a limited remix of his classic track “Twist And Shout”. A new track “Daylight” is also forthcoming and he has just released a remix of Jamez's “People Will Believe'”. Tilt has remixed the re-release of Pete Lazonby's 'Wavespeech' out on Bliss. Blackwatch’s “Loveless” track is coming out on Perfecto and “Word Unspoken” will appear on Shinichi shortly. Pole Folder has just released “Moon In A Blue Sky EP” on Sunkissed featuring the tracks “Planetary Activity” and “We Share”, also in the making is a remix of the classic “Age Of Love” by Age Of Love and tracks for a forthcoming debut album. Hydrogen Rockers (Dirty Vegas) are back on Plastic Records with “Burnin’ Up”. Sasha is out with “Unreleased DJ Mixes Part 2”, including the tracks “Artificial Heart”, “Motorola” and “Wavy Gravy” in the U&K remix.

Cass & Slide’s “Glad I Ate Her” – that only was released in 999 copies and today changes hands for around 1000 Dkr. has been released in a very limited one sided re-release. Cass’s new label Sabotage has released his own track “Mind Rewind” and Siler Haze’s “Hidden Park / Works”. Out on Steelyard is Knightsgroove “Hide”, a fantastic track with a great male vocal. On Baroque Tkac & Haverik´s brilliant track “Tyra” has been released and also the Buds Not Bombs “Deleido” is set for releases as a double pack including remixes from Infusion. On the sister label Method, Sworn “Treatment Declined” and Central Rush “Lotus/ 4am” is out as promos. The Australian label Vapour delivers the cracking Fitalic “Realistic” and Release Records are out with Starkid “Crayons”. Greed has released “Nihill Nulla” and “I See You” including a Van Bellen and DJ Nukem remix. Danny Tenaglia has remixed Ono’s “Walking On Thin Ice” and has taken on Eurthymics classic “Sweet Dreams”. Pete Gooding is rocking with Roachford on “Words” From Sweden comes Ticon “Waiting For The Knights / There Is No Plan” and Son Kite “Receive Part II / Sunset Street”, two deep progressive releases from the Digital Structures label.

That’s it form me this time, take care.  / Christian
