The internationally acclaimed DJ and producer who is
currently on tour with Madonna is also about to unleash his latest album
Perfecto Vegas (Thrive/Perfecto) on July 14th. Amazingly enough, pre-digital
sales of the album beat the late and legendary Michael Jackson to the #1
spot on iTunes’ dance chart and #1 on the Amazon digital album chart this
week. The man simply cannot be stopped. After almost 20 years in the music
business, workaholic Paul Oakenfold has proven yet again that he's still at
the top of his game. Where there is a demand, "Oakie" can still most
certainly supply us with the goods. Los Angeles, CA – World-renowned
producer and DJ Paul Oakenfold has been one of the few figures in dance
music to have-made an indelible impact on modern day popular culture. From
being credited as the main catalyst of the dance music revolution that took
hold of the UK in the late 1980’s, to bringing DJ sets to stadiums via his
opening slots for major pop acts such as U2, to remixing artists as diverse
as Radiohead, Justin Timberlake and The Rolling Stones, the UK-born
Oakenfold has consistently been recognized as an artist able to spread the
gospel of club music beyond the confines of club culture.
Reaffirming this fact, legendary Queen of Pop Madonna -- renowned for her
impeccable taste and ground breaking choice of collaborations with the
worlds best producers -- recruited Paul to produce brand new material for
her forthcoming greatest hits album (slated for Sept ’09). "Cutting edge
sounds combined with classic Madonna," says Oakenfold of the new songs.
Oakenfold is also set to embark on a lengthy world tour this summer that
will cross 25 countries in just over two months, which includes opening for
Madonna on all of her “Sticky & Sweet” UK and European dates. |

Back in the summer of 2008 Oakenfold also launched a
groundbreaking weekly residency at the Palms Hotel & Casino called simply,
“Perfecto Vegas.” Conceived by the Maloof brothers and their nightlife team in
conjunction with Oakenfold himself, “Perfecto Vegas” has brought a grandiose,
Ibizan-styled club experience to arguably the hippest locale in Vegas for the
first time.
To commemorate the ongoing success of the night, Thrive Records is set to
release "Perfecto Vegas" on July 14th. This double CD set consists of 21
exclusive tracks, hand selected and mixed by Oakenfold. The set focuses on the
less pop leaning, “classic Oakenfold” sound that core fans have been begging for
since his Grammy-nominated 2004 release, Creamfields.
Along with an extensive tour with Madonna, Oakenfold will also co-headline such
major summer festival dates as Wireless in the UK, Red Rocks and the Electric
Daisy Carnival at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Touted as being one of the most versatile artists in the business, Oakenfold has
built up an impressive resume composing music for film, TV, and video games.
Most recently, he has scored The Bourne Conspiracy video game, composed the
theme to the hit TV show Big Brother, and contributed tracks to the upcoming
Jerry Bruckheimer film G-Force.
Oakenfold continues to work on his new original studio album, Pop Killer, which
will be released in 2010. The project already features collaborations with The
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, and Ce-Lo. His previous two
solo releases have sold over 2 million units combined.
Perfecto Vegas is available nationwide in stores and online July 14th 2009.

For over a
decade Australian trio Infusion - Manny Sharrad, Frank Xavier and Jamie
Stevens - have expanded minds, built bridges and been adorned with affection
from Wollongong to Williamsburg and back with their uniquely placeless,
always evolutionary approach to creating truly futuristic transcendental
dance music.
Just when it feels like there are no more avenues for an act of Infusion’s
pedigree to go down, they’ve flipped and gone down one you never expected
but always wanted them to take – the modern pop superhighway. All Night Sun
Light (Omnis Recordings) achieves where so many other attempts at dance pop
fails – authenticity. Infusion’s always dabbled in a unique blend of dance
and pop but it’s fully realized over these 11 shimmering displays of machine
pop created in the dark world of strobes and sweat.
“2 Player Game” opens the suite with a sinister synth-line before settling
into the kind of groove Depeche Mode fans die for; “All That’s In Your Head”
is the pulsing electropop heartbeat of a wasted romance; while “Falling Into
Place” feels like the long, dark walk home from the night of your life. It’s
got “movie scene transition” written all over it. “Gotta Leave Now” is an
ecstatic triumph, possibly the most irrepressible future pop dart in this
impressive records artillery, while “Head Over Heels” comes out of the
blocks feeling like T-Rex. Second single “Dogtown” is down and dirty
sex-e-lectro for those carnal times while third single “Try It On” is a
sophisticated love song made for late night propositions.
Infusion’s songwriting has always been a strong point for the band, but it
really comes out on some of the albums downtempo tracks. Lead single “So
Soon” (CD version offered free) is gorgeous psychedelic electronic pop on
its own, but appropriated for the dancefloor courtesy of remixes from King
Unique, Spooky and Infusion. “Justified” has a folky, Woodstock
call-for-action vibe about it while “Horizon” is a ballad bringing forth
shades of Dave Gahan.
Again written and produced by the band themselves in just about every studio,
bedroom and shed that would take them between Melbourne, Sydney, Angelsea,
The Mornington Peninsula, Brighton UK and Los Angeles, All Night Sun Light
was then shipped to James Brown [no, not that one – co-producer to Alan
Moulder, Trent Reznor etc] in New York, who mixed the record in Phillip
Glass’ Looking Glass Studios.
“It’s been a very long and hard road in making this album ourselves but
having complete control meant we achieved everything we wanted to with it.
It was great working with the Victoria Philharmonic Orchestra, Kram – who
did some drumming along with T-Rek, our guitarist friends and a big brash
brassy band we used for “Memory Cheats.” We also were lucky to have the film
scoring talents of Rajan Kamahl and Jono Fernandez to assist in the string
arrangements in the more epic tracks such as “Falling Into Place” and
Horizons,” Manny Sharrad says
After their last album, Six Feet Above Yesterday, Infusion spent the better
part of three years taking that record to the people, touring extensively
not only around Australia but also traipsing through Europe, North and South
America, and Asia. They also lent their definitive touch to remixes of
artists including The Cure. The resultant album that’s been presented is one
that reeks of travel and experience, both geographical and psychological.

Pole Folder
returns to the fold with his latest single from his La Tour label, Hate Myself.
which has been remixed by the master himself, Sasha.
To those with even the most passing of interests in dance music, Sasha needs no
introduction. Few of his peers can match his outstanding contributions driving
electronic music forward or claim such a dedicated army of fans – both of which
have ensured his consistent presence amongst the world’s Top 10 DJs for the past
decade.
Sasha’s remix is true testament to his legendary status, lending his perfect ear
to add a beauty and timelessness to Pole Folder’s already faultless original.
Hate Myself is not your traditional peak-time hit, but with Sasha already
testing it out on the road, it seems to be working as his current dancefloor
destroyer!
In trademark
Pole Folder style Hate Myself has a melancholic vibe, which Sasha then merges
with an intense bassline, and intertwines noodly, scratchy overlays. The surreal
chanting vocal staggers in and out, while the driving bassline, the sudden
clanging, and the ominous, disjointed sounds all seem to merge to form a fluid
cacophony of sound. Pole Folder says “Since I discovered Sasha through Northern
Exposure 1 he has continued to blow me away… Having Sasha do a remix for La Tour
is a dream come true for me.”
Hate Myself will
be La Tour’s 5th release this year, and is the perfect single to cement their
reputation as one of the best up and coming labels of 2009. Pole Folder is
currently locked in his ‘80Hz’ studio writing his second album "The Helsinki
Accord”, due for release winter 2009. This will feature the original of Hate
Myself.

Twenty years
after the peaceful revolution Paul van Dyk – the well known DJ, Artist and
Producer has written "We Are One", an anthem to the fall of the Berlin Wall,
which will be presented during the festivities at the Brandenburg Gate on
November 9.
On November 9th 2009 in the presence of heads of state from throughout the
world, a historic celebration marking the anniversary of the fall of the
Berlin Wall will take place in front of the Brandenburg Gate. In addition to
Germany´s Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, the French President Nicolas
Sarkozy, the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and the Russian President
Dimitri Medvedev will attend this emotional event. Mikhail Gorbachev, Lech
Walesa, and numerous winners of the Nobel Peace Prize have also been invited.
The "soundtrack" for this unique event, at which a wall of massive dominos
will be symbolically knocked down, is by none other than Paul van Dyk. His "We
Are One" is an anthem that will leave no one untouched when it is performed
live at the Brandenburg gate.
"It is an incredible honor to be allowed to present my ´We Are One´ anthem
on November 9 against such a fantastic backdrop. The events of twenty years
ago still move me very personally. I have invested a lot of time and emotion
in this project," said the musician, who created "We Are One" together with
the singer Johnny McDaid.

There’s no
question that Charlie May is a true purveyor of House Music, and he makes a
welcome and long-overdue return with his debut single ‘Apache’ from his new
label imprint Mayhem.
Never one to travel in a straight musical line, Charlie fully exploits the
opportunity to explore the length and breadth of his creative capacity with
‘Apache’. Charlie says…
“I’m feeling my way around, getting back into the solo headspace really,
which is cool. There’s so much cool techno stuff about at the moment which
is really inspiring me.”
Alongside the dance-floor orientated cuts on which he has built his
reputation, Charlie straddles moods of ambient, techno and electronica
whilst constantly maintaining a melodic and highly emotive core. The sound
is familiar yet fresh.
‘Apache’ has a driving deep, dark bassline with endless textures and rhythms
and trademark Charlie sounds. The scratchy chords give it that Detroit’esque
sound, whilst muffled robotic-tinged orchestral flutters underpin a lush
arpeggio of warm synths. ‘Apache’ is the perfect first single from the man
who knows all the right moves in creating his own brand of musicality.
2009 is going to be a big year for Charlie May… stepping out of the Sasha
shadow, Charlie has a few new singles up his sleeve for labels such as La
Tour, and is currently working on remixes for Glenn Morrison alongside
Robert Babicz for Bedrock. Charlie also recently released a new mix
compilation for Platipus under his Spooky moniker.
“I’m focusing on singles for a bit but I’d also like to do an album - its
something I really want to do. That would be a big achievement. It’s all
guns blazing really – watch this space.” And you really should…
The artwork has been designed by UK artist Jamie Crowley who, for the Mayhem
artwork series, has created some truly chaotic designs... Jamie, a
self-trained artist who finds beauty in decaying buildings, billboards and
graffiti will have the Mayhem artwork available to buy on canvas or as
prints. There will be limited edition signed prints of the artwork available
too.

Ah….the 90’s. For electronic dance music this was a
golden era and most of the genres finest anthems were born before the millennium
cracked with a triple zero. People were Born Slippy with their Block Rockin’
Beats while sittin’ on Little Fluffy Clouds. You get the idea, but certainly not
lost amongst the classics is Way Out West’s own divine anthem “The Gift;” a
rebirth of Roberta Flack’s “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” (Legend has it
that the track spawned an eye-popping four hundred remixes!) After three albums
and many hits later the Bristol duo of Nick Warren and Jody Wisternoff have
returned for the next round of future hits with We Love Machine. This is their
ode to classic analog synths and the beautiful music that’s made with them.
Messrs Warren and Wisternoff lie poised for the unveiling of We Love Machine:
their fourth full album in sixteen years of partnership. Way Out West (1997) and
Intensify (2001), were replete with commercial potential--so much so that the
duo cut loose for 2004ʼs Donʼt Look Now, galvanizing hordes at a sunkissed
Glastonbury when they hit them with the airbrakes of “Anything But You”. The
appointment of vocalist Omi left a lot of guest singers biting dust--to chip in
on a Way Out West recording meant either instant dancefloor celebrity or worship
from the gold-wired audiophiles. A place in the Top 40 was always a likelihood
too--the boys have been there and back four times, hitting the Dance #1 spot
with “Mindcircus” (2002) and touching the indie crowd with “Donʼt Forget Me”
(2005).
First out of the shoot is the September 7th release of lead single “Only Love”
featuring a package of remixes from Jerome Isma Ae, John Tejada and Glimpse. The
single is already receiving lots of love from the likes of Laurent Garnier,
James Talk, Ivan Smagghe and Kissy Sell Out, among many others. "Only Love"
features Jonathan Mendelsohn on vocals and some original 80's-era keyboards that
sets It off. Digging a bit into the album, the title track combines those
shimmery breaks and lush arrangements that we’ve come to love from WOW while
“One Bright Night and Tierre del Fuego are downtempo cinematic masterpieces. Any
comedown is quickly invigorated by the punchy breaks of the aptly titled block
party-er “Body Motion.” It does what it says to full effect. Back to the
sublime, “Survival” is 4/4 gold and one that brings the smile out. It just has
“that” great throwback vibe going on. “Future Perfect” is the car chaser of the
lot. It’s a futuristic barn burner, but in that Vangelis kinda way. We’ll whet
your appetite for the rest of the album with a visit to the big red spot of
Jupiter on “Ultra Violet” This one’s available free to you good folks and the
ideal track for crusin’ through space like Lonestar.
The Way Out West LPs come slowly, like comets, but when they hit its with the
impact of alien technology: Nickʼs marriage to his beloved Global Underground
line keeps him pinned to a factory of innovators, and Jodyʼs nu-disco sidestep
with Starstrings this year showed he can dish out the hits like a cruiserweight.
You can expect stars to fall come this September when we get to experience fresh
WOW. Itʼs been a long time coming but you can bet your last breath that the
prize will be fast and shiny.

Solarstone’s new
long-player is out now and angling to take its place alongside ‘Electronic
Architecture’ and its sister album ‘Rain Stars Eternal’ in your CD and mp3
collections!
The original version of Rain Stars Eternal took the listener to some places
previously unexplored by Solarstone. There’s never been a Solarstone musical
‘rule book’ as such. If such a thing existed, on RSEMIX, it has been roundly
torn up and tossed out the window! The 80-ish overtones of ‘Breakaway’ have
now been transported into a housey, Daft Punk-ian sound-space by Jaksaw,
complete with a chopped, stuttered vocal-fest and irrepressible,
funk-powered backing. Courtesy of Probspot ‘Slave’ has been re-rendered into
a pacey expedition through broken beats, sunspot synths and BT-ish melodies
while gig-fave ‘4ever’ has become a beat-less piano-tinged, autumnal lament.
If you’ve ever had a little ‘moment’ listening to tracks like Mental
Generation’s ‘Café del Mar’ or A Man Called Adam’s ‘Easter Song’, ‘4ever’
will now chill yer boots off (and pop them neatly at the bottom of the bed
for you!).
For those needing to feel the pure-form floor-energy (and are maybe starting
to wonder if you might have been forgotten) – fear not! Unsurprisingly Ferry
Corsten had the run of RSE’s range to pick from. He selected ‘Late Summer
Fields’ and has turned it into a ravenous beast, bristling with floor armour
and setting up to cause uproar when its re-released next month. Bissen,
Beetseekers and Pedro del Mar & DJ Cosmo have also been keeping the club end
of things firmly within their sites whilst re-mapping ‘The Last Defeat,
‘Dark Heart’ & ‘Lunar Rings’! The closer Solar-watchers among you will no
doubt spot that there is also a good degree of ‘Electronic Architecture’s
alumni contributing to RSEMIX’s tracklist. Solar Energy, Bot Cyprian, Stan
Void & Jox have all been hard at it, recalibrating (respectively) ‘Part of
Me’, ‘RainStarsEternal’, ‘Spectrum’ and ‘Filoselle Skies’

Ultimae -
Ambient masters |
|
|
|
French composer Vincent
Villuis, aka AES Dana, known for his participation to the H.U.V.A. Network
band and co-manager of Ultimae Records, signs here his 4th ambient downtempo
album and presents 10 immersive tracks of luminous darkness.
"For those who believe in them, Leylines are invisible lines of forces that
connect centers of geomagnetic power to one another."
Throughout the album, the artist builds upon the concept of connections that
exist between various musical genres and influences, interlinks between the
elements surrounding us, the feelings of life. Sound becomes organic matter,
clay.
Tapped, scraped, plucked, stretched, it transforms into rich rhythms,
spatial acoustics, sustained harmonics, hypnotic morphing pads and profound
basslines. The outcome is a granular journey of complex delicacy, fragmented
and yet fluid.
Electronic Arts just released the Original
Soundtrack from the video game Mirror's Edge. The stunning music is composed
by Magnus Birgersson aka Solar Fields and. The album will be only available
digitally.

Dave Seaman, the most
decorated champion of the Masters Series, returns to defend his crown...
Dave Seaman and Renaissance are an iconic duo. Their collaborations have
become like fish & chips, Lennon & McCartney and Posh & Becks - a
quintessentially British export. The secret behind the success is actually
quite transparent, falling to Dave's incredible depth of experience,
remaining as meticulous as ever in his track selection, incredible ear for
harmonic mixing and natural feel for programming.
The latest chapter in the Masters Series finds him in a rich vein of form as
he draws upon the scenes best talent. Disc One treads along a more eclectic
path taking in Four Tet, Ben Watt, UNKLE, Moby and Spooky before culminating
in Dave's own twist on Ewan Pearson's lauded re-work of Jon Hopkins blissful
anthem 'Light Through The Veins'. Disc Two takes more of a peak-time high
road, picking-up hitchhikers in the form of Guy J, Agoria, Radio Slave and
Nic Fanciulli before bundling them all out to make way for the heavy hitting
finale of Gui Boratto's Adam Freeland remix.
As ever, the unique bag of editing, additional production and FX has been
expertly woven throughout the mix, as Seaman further outlines, "There's so
much additional production and 'nipping and tucking' editing going on it's
difficult to highlight it all! We've credited certain parts where the
results are obvious (the UNKLE acapella over a heavily chopped-up Andre
Winter track and the additional drums, bass and female vocal on Jon Hopkins
for example), but the whole album almost became like one long track to be
honest, such was the care and attention that went into it. I hope it shines
through..."
It does.
Dave Seaman's latest Masters is yet another musical chapter that will define
and stand the test of time - an essential listen to brighten stereos and
iPods as the Autumn nights draw in.

Giuseppe Ottaviani is without a doubt one of the most
talented and influential artists on the VANDIT roster. His star first began it´s
ascent with live act NU NRG and their album FREE FALL, which garnered worldwide
success for this up and coming artist. Even today, despite the breakup of NU NRG
in 2005, this album is still a highly sought after collectible.
Giuseppe is a mastermind extraordinaire with a distinctive talent for
composition refined by years of academic studies of classical music, and an
absolute passion for creating unique and powerful songs. Even as a child,
Giuseppe colored his surrounding with his skilled piano playing, but these days
he is busy conquering the world of electronic dance music instead.
Touring the continents and performing at the coolest clubs and biggest
festivals, Ottaviani´s talent definitely struck a chord with label head Paul van
Dyk. Collaborating with this dance music icon on tracks like "La Dolce Vita" and
"Far Away" for van Dyk´s "In Between" album, Ottaviani continues to be in high
in demand for remixes for A-league artists from Markus Schulz to Ferry Corsten
and even PvD himself.
Kicking it off with the gorgeous One Day, the album smoothly transitions between
each phenomenal track. Next up, Where I Want To Go, Fallen and Sunward all live
up to the highest expectations, showcasing both Ottaviani´s versatility, and his
mastery in the genre of trance. Third Dome brings yet another gorgeous round of
dance music bliss with its stuttering, wistful melodies, only to be followed by
Paul van Dyk gig favourite No More Alone. Again, this crowd pleaser leaves
little to be asked for as this vocal collaboration with Stephen Pickup is
absolutely one of the best of the summer.
White Empire and Thermopile pair perfectly, with a dark contrast as the more
uplifting chords bleed into a dark groove. Ottaviani´s next collaboration
Sunward with Gate 4 is yet another moody sonic pleaser, before dipping back into
the more beat heavy Unplugged. Ramping up the melodic sound again Giuseppe pairs
with John O´Callaghan for the beautiful Our Dimension.
Rounding out the last part of the album is the stunning Silver Sand Club,
followed by his Francesco M. collab which pushes into the more melodic sphere
again. The Tom Colontonio collaboration Love Mission, and Ottaviani´s beautiful
Angel, with vocalist Faith are a perfect pair to close the album on a high note.
A sonic panorama of deliciously dark, and absolutely resonant, this album is a
definite crowd pleaser with a sound that stretches across the electronic genre,
showcasing not only the breadth of Ottaviani´s inspiration, but the depth of his
talent at its very best.TRACKLISTING

Balance is extremely
pleased to announce that the UK’s master of the Deep, Will Saul, has taken
on mixing duties for Balance 015.
Since its inception in 2001, the Balance Series has showcased the diverse
and upfront sounds of frontrunners like James Holden, Chris Fortier, Desyn
Masielo, Paolo Mojo, Jimmy Van M, S.O.S Collective, and Lee Burridge. Now
hot on the heels of Joris Voorn’s stunning 100+ track instalment; EQ
Recordings returns to the global stage in October 2009 with Balance 015.
Since entering the picture with a prodigious victory in Muzik Magazine’s
coveted ‘Bedroom Bedlam’ mixtape competition back in 2000, Will Saul has
risen through the ranks of the dance music elite to firmly establish himself
as a DJ, Producer and A&R Manager of premium quality and repute.
As a DJ, Will’s trademark penchant for the deep, melodic and hypnotic realms
of ‘discohousetechno’ have seen him traverse the planet on tours and hold
key residencies at London clubbing institutions like The End and Cable.
As a Producer, Will’s insatiable appetite for forging infectious grooves
intertwined with deep, lush audioscapes has seen him not only forge a
high-end catalogue of originals to date (including ‘Tic Toc’, ‘Fast Lane’
and ‘Love The Scary’), but earn remix duties for fellow kings of the
underground like Phonique, Jesse Rose, Marc Romboy, Manuel Tur and Steve
Lawler.
Hallmarked by an unwavering commitment to allowing its chosen artists the
creative freedom and musical integrity to present a mix that truly reflects
their hearts, minds, souls and sounds; Balance is devoted to bringing
listeners, fans and followers unique mixes and sonic experiences that
capture the spirit of a moment and stand the test of time.
Will Saul’s Balance 015 will be no different. Indeed, with Will at the
controls, Balance 015 promises to epitomise the spirit of the series to
