Depeche Mode - Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, Andy Fletcher - are unique. For nearly 25 years they have been making groundbreaking music, which has influenced generations of artists. Depeche Mode has always been at the vanguard of remix culture since its inception, and the history of Depeche Mode is inextricably linked with the history of the remix. "Remixes 81-04" is a 2-disc set spanning over 20 years of Depeche Mode's pioneering remixes. Almost a greatest hits collection, the album is a compendium of Depeche Mode classics remixed by some of the best remixers in the world, including Underworld, William Orbit, Danny Tenaglia, Air, Kruder and Dorfmeister, Timo Maas, Flood and of course Depeche Mode themselves.
Over 100 mixes
Nostalgia is written all over my mind when I’m listening to this great compendium of remixes of Depeche Mode tracks that have been a very big part of my music background since I started my huge interests for electronic music. I must say that Depeche Mode was the band that put me on the path of electro pop and the wonders of the 80’ music where a good song and tune was the essence.
Back in the 80’ the 12” was a fairly new thing and Depeche Mode was some of the first bands to bring this format to the forefront of their career and to use it commercially and creatively. Depeche Mode has today released more than 40 singles and over 100 mixes of these tracks have followed. Each track in its own rights and a statement of the musical fashion of the specific time period. Depeche Mode has always been on the cutting edge on deciding who they want to remix their tracks and now you have a chance to collect some of the best in one compilation.

The new compilation "Remixes 81-04" includes in the 2 CD version 24 of Depeche Mode´s finest remixes like the Schizo Mix “Just Can’t Get Enough”, “Shout” in the Rio Remix that was featured on the b-side of “New Life”, “Never Let me Down Again” in the Split mix, Underworld’s remix of “Barrel Of The Gun”, the fantastic Combination Mix of “Get The Balance Right” and the Absolut Mix of “Everything Counts” that was released in 1989 in conjunction with their “101” live album.
