Remy with a Bang !!!!
Remy Unger has come of age. The Dutch maestro has dropped the 'DJ' tag from his name (even though he's still one of Europe's most successful jocks) and continued further down the musical path marked 'techno' for his debut artist album. He's now making the best music of his career. Instead of following the European path into simplistic harder beats and sounds like some of his compatriots, the beauty of the music he's creating now lies in the lush techno soundscapes that are more akin to early Detroit and R&S-style intelligent techno - all created from within his bunker in Holland's Der Hague.

In the 1970s, all the biggest Dutch bands lived in The Hague, including Remy's parents, the Leo Unger Group. Knee high to a tulip, he was immediately plonked onto a drum kit, and by the age of 12 he'd joined his folks on stage, playing to tens of thousands at the massive South Park concert - not a bad start for one of techno's brightest talents. This very early introduction to the ways of percussion cemented Remy's love of rhythm, something that is more than apparent on this album.

Remy's new sound moves from glacial walls of pristine electronica (always underpinned by tough percussion sections) to sleazy funk workouts dominated by twisted rhythms. The common factor with his 'pure machine music' is the sheer quality of production. The result works as well on the headphones at home as it does when the likes of Sasha, Carl Cox, John Digweed, and Steve Lawler hammer Remy's music live across the world. DJ Remy has released his debute album "Bang" - out now.
