Kasey Taylor,
founder of Vapour recordings, is one of Australia's most prominent DJ's
and is rapidly making his mark on a world wide scale with a string of
production and remixes. From his meager beginnings as a 13 year old DJ at
the local roller rink he has progressed to have worked at most of
Melbourne's big clubs and parties. In particular his time spent rocking
Melbourne's Mansion club are fondly remembered by lovers of the
progressive sound. During Kasey's stint here the club played host to some
of the worlds leading DJ's and was voted one of the best clubs in the
world by the UK's Ministry Magazine. Alongside the likes of Sasha, John
Digweed, Paul Oakenfold, Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Dave Seaman and Ian Ossia,
just to name a few, he has become a regular at all major clubbing events
in his home town of Melbourne including the Northern Exposure, Renaissance,
Trade, Gatecrasher and Cream tours. Internationally Kasey has played at
the Ministry Of Sound (with Danny Howells), United (alongside John
Digweed), Leisure Lounge and Up Yer Ronson, all major UK clubs.
From the
early 1990's Kasey was also exploring production. Firstly through Quench,
which he left after their first single "Feel My Love" and then, in 1995,
via his Our House project, in partnership with another Melbourne DJ Sean
Quinn. Our House were signed to Dance Net here in Australia and to Paul
Oakenfold's prestigious Perfecto label in the UK. They came to Paul's
attention after he heard "Floorspace" at a Melbourne party featuring
Pete Tong and himself as guest DJ's. The success of "Floorspace" then
led to several remixing options for Perfecto (Virus - Moon , Juno
Reactor - Jungle High) and other high profile labels, not to mention
Australian tours DJ'ing, playing live as Our House and a mix CD, "DJ
Excursions".

His solo
work started in early 1997 with remixes for Chrome by Chrome and Summer
Breeze by the Free Radicals, both gaining attention in the UK market. It
was later on in that year that Kasey first started work on his own
label, Vapour Recordings. In partnership with long time friends Vicious
Vinyl, Kasey created an environment for Vapour Recordings that had all
of his creative drive plus the experience of a long established indie
label behind it.
Moving
forward to 1999 and Kasey has remixed for the likes of Breeder, Blue Amazon
and Fade records in the USA. His label Vapour now has nine single releases
under it's belt with artists such as Rush and Highland two of the new school
Australian outfits signed to the label. He has helped put Australian talent on
the map and Vapour's results are making DJ's the world over take notice with
tracks licensed to mix CDs from Dave Seaman (Renaissance USA), Anthony Pappa (Renaissance
UK) and Nalin (from Nalin & Kane fame for his "Hands On Decks" CD out of
Germany). Apart from all this Kasey's own Ocean Wave act signed with
one of the UK's most "on it" labels, Rhythm Syndicate, (home to Breeder).
Kasey's DJing skills are still very much in demand. He plays regularly both in
Melbourne and Interstate, has co-presents a radio show on Kiss FM with Our House
production partner Sean Quinn and has released Volume One and Two of his label's
"Vapourized" DJ mixed compilation series.
2004
has been a big year for Vapour Recordings and especially in the studio with
Kasey Taylor & Chris Meehan. Kasey Taylor has been playing all over the planet
on a weekly basis these days and if your in the right place at the right time,
you should just about catch him anywhere at some point at the moment. Vapour
has some exciting new artists on board now for 2005. dousk from Bedrock fame
is one, his track titled 'Estrange' is already on the new Masters series
compiled and mixed by Hernan Cattaneo due for release in February with the
single coming about a month after. Along with dousk Vapour has Mercurio from
Argentina, Espen & Stian, Stealthy & The Blue Room Project all joining the
roster of existing talent, and Vapour have some stunning releases ready for
the 2005 season. Vapour have also the classic Greed release from SOG Records 'Promises'
coming this yeah as well with new mixes from D Nox & Beckers, Talyor & Meehan
and dousk, along with a stunning new single by Quest titled 'Air', which is up
there with Luke Chable's best work to date.

In January 2005 Kasey started a second label. The
reasoning behind the new label is simple. 'Vapour Recordings' has it's
'sound' and will continue to produce it, 'VapouRise' will compliment it
with a more 'anything goes' attitude, so expect everything from tech
house, deep house, electro house and breaks to be turning up on our new
label. Gift, D Nox & Beckers, Dominic Plaza, Parham & Isloe have all come
on board to ensure the label impresses and to date it has, with big guns
such as Hernan Cattaneo charting Gift and using Parham & Ilsoe's 'Love
sequence' on his upcoming Renaissance compilation due out in February.
