Pappa - Progressive Australian One thing is for sure: When Australian DJ Anthony Pappa gets behind the two 1210's the style is ultimate, progressive house. "I was borne in Melbourne, Australia and began DJ'ing when I was 13 years old, playing at friend’s birthday parties and other smaller parties. I continued playing smaller clubs in Australia, and after a few years, I moved to London feeling that this was the place where things were happening. I have now been a resident DJ at the Renaissance and have played places like Twilo in New York, so things are going well," says Anthony. DJ idols are great names such as Sasha, John Digweed and Dave Seaman. His all time favourite music are the old classics: Future Sound of London’s "Papua New Guinea" and Massive Attack’s "Unfinished Symphony". Anthony Pappa has published a series of compilation mix albums. Some are pictures of his view of the times in which they are produced. That is true for Resolution from React , Global Underground Nubreed vol. 1 and his former Renaissance mix album. Others are commissioned work such as The Best of Platipus and Choo Choo Records vol. 1. Besides being a DJ, he is also a producer and has produced the chart buster Skydive together with Alan Bremner in the group Freefall with vocals by Jan Johnston. He says about this song, that he is getting tired of it, which is understandable considering the number of years that has gone by since it was produced. Never the less it has been re-released with great success with remixes of Way Out West and Mara. In 2001, another two remixes by Jan Johnston and Sono was released. A number of other singles: Skin Deep, Void, Twister and Validate have also been released under the name Pappa & Gilbey. He has also released the single Crazy People with Barry Gilbert and Alan Bremner under the name 3 Monkeys. Anthony is a well-renowned remixer and has, amongst other things, remixed the giant hit from Chicane, Offshore together with Gilbey and recently, he has remixed DJ Remy’s Butterfly and Morel’s Funny Car.
