Haldolium - Be Real FreeForm Records
The two Germans Mark K. Lorenzen and
Mario Reinsch aka Haldolium has released their highly anticipated new album “Be
Real”. It includes 9 tracks with deep trance and progressive influences.
Haldolium isn’t afraid of including voices and strange sounds into their music.
This gives it a positive lift from the average trance music that is floating the
market at the moment. Their massive single “2nd Movement” is also featured on
the album. As a whole the album will surprise some people, as it’s a parting
from their deep trance sound and a move to a more positive sound. As always the
tracks are very well produced and has a fantastic sound. The last track “B/W “is
an 18-minute a fantastic downbeat journey into the unknown. Go and be real.
Trance Nation
Ministry Of Sound / Bonnier
From Ministry Of Sound yet another
double mix compilation album has been released. This is the Nordic release not
to be mistaken for the series that Ferry Corsten is headlining in the UK. It’s
compiled by John Wallin and mixed and mastered by Thomas Tomato and Morgan
Jalsing. On CD one you can find The Thrillseekers “Dreaming Of You”, 4 Strings
“Diving”, Örtz “We Don’t Talk” in the Fairlite Remix and the new Matt Darey &
Marcella Woods “U Shine On” single. On CD two you have the pleasure of Ralphie B
“Massive”, Lost Witness “Did I Dream”,
Sinead O’Connor ”Troy ”in a mix by Push and Moby
“Extreme Ways” in the DJ Tiësto remix. To my taste these tracks are some of the
highlights on this compilation that I’m sorry to say is just yet a compilation
of good and bad tunes.
Filur - Deeply Superficial
Disco:wax / Edel
The Danish duo Filur are ready to
unleash their second album “Deeply Superficial”. Filur is Tomas Barfod and
Kasper Bjørke and they released their debut album “Exciting Comfort” in 2000,
where “Shame” was a major hit for the two. From the new album the single “I Want
You” has featured on the dancechart over 20 weeks and the second single “Fallin’”
is out now. The album features dreaming deephouse, tribal and uplifting vocal
tracks. The boys have collaborated with a long string of experience musicians,
including Shawnee Taylor of Subliminal Records and Pernille Rosendahl of Swan
Lee. “Deeply Superficial” is a nice laidback album that you can relax to before
or after going out.

Atlas - Compass Error
A brand new concept from Plastica Red, as they join
forces with Stoke’s finest label RIP Records, to re-release of a lost classic
from 1994 called ”Compass Error” by Atlas.Disc
1 features the classic mix from 1994, and a genius remake by Tarantella:Redanka,
who deliver one of the finest mixes you will hear this year. Disc 2 features a
stunning remix from progressive pioneers Fluke, and a mighty remake from Menace
(Kevin Swain, David Snell, and Oliver MacGregor), who deliver a superb twisted
tribal affair.”Compass Error” was written by
Tony Newland and Dennis Wheatley, and was originally released on the innovative
early 90’s label – Pandephonium. This was a label that was definitely ahead of
its time, releasing early productions by Fluke and Justin Robertson, among
others. Tony Newland is now working as Motacade, who recently released the hotly
tipped Muddy Waters sampling ”Mule Song”. Tarantella:Redanka (Chris Bourne and
Andy Holt )have also produced a supreme ”Dubbed Version” of Atlas - Compass that
was originally going to appear as a part of this release, but will now only be
available on Nick Warren’s forthcoming Global Underground opus. The progressive
pioneers Fluke, who delivers a red-hot-and-fire-away remix of ”Compass”, is on
fire right now and are having great success with their own new single, ”Pulse”,
on One Little Indian.

Also out on Big Star

Fab
for feat. Robert Owens “Last Night A DJ Blew My Mind”
The old

funky rhymes and drive. Also featured is a radio edit, the original version and
an accapella version.

Element - Full Moon

|
|
Spirit Zone
The first time I heard a track by
Element was in Amager Bio back in December last year where DJ Alex played the
track “Turn To Me”, and I have been looking for it for a long time. Finally the
album is out, and more of this mixture of deep trance and progressive music is
found on this super album that I strongly can recommend, if you are looking for
a new inspiration in the ever-growing world of trance music. Element are three
Germans; Mark Engemann on keyboards, Dieter Gerbe on drums and Dirk Draeger on
guitar, keyboards and vocal. This is the group’s second album release; they have
in 2000 released the popular album "Transform" on Liquid Audio. The album never
stops, it’s full on from 133 to 143 bmp and the highlights are many, in my point
of view one of the best albums to hits the streets in 2002. |

Astral Projection - AMEN |
|
Phonokol
Avi Nissim and Lior Perlmutter are back
with their new album “AMEN” since their release of “Another World” in 1999. On
AMEN Astral Projection expand their well-known Israeli trance sound, nothing
much has happened over the years, it’s still Astral Projection. The album is
full on 80 minutes music as we know Avi and Lior. They
introduced some new sound elements collected from the European trance and the
progressive music environment and my guess is that a track like “Infiniti
Justice” will find its way on to the dance floor and on mix compilations.
“Anything Is Possible“ and “Heaven's Gate” are in my point of view some of the
best tracks on AMEN, but I’ve expected more from the masters of Israeli trance.

At long last the debut album from the
brothers Dave and Brendan Webster is released. We have over the years been
thrilled with smooth and innovating tracks from Transa, and now they are all
collected on a double CD together with ten brand new tracks. The tracks range
from melodic trance over hard edge deep trance tracks to Ibiza feel soundscapes,
and emphasis the musical talents of the two brothers. Tracks like “Prophase”,
“Supernova”, “Behind The Sun” and “Transcend” are already burning the dance
floors. The album is also released as a double vinyl.

Jakatta - Visions |
|
Ministry Of Sound / Bonnier
Take the wonderful piano theme from the
movie “American Beauty” done by Thomas Newman and add a pulsing rhythm, then you
have “American Dream”. Take the piano theme from “The Shawshank Redemption” also
done by Thomas Newman, add the vocal of Seal and a driving rhythm you, then have
“My Vision” and both of them work fantastic and have a positive uplifting energy
around them. The Jakatta album is full of interesting crossings of uplifting
music, ethnic voices, sounds and laidback tunes. “Ride The Storm” featuring
Linda Clifford is a fantastic house blast; also featured on voice is Sheila
Chandra, Ty and Beth Hirsch.

Lemon 8 - The Inner Sanctuary Sessions |
Basic Beat Recordings
For a long time I’ve been impressed with the high quality
productions of Dutch DJ Harry Lemon, but to get all his tracks on one double CD
is amazing. “The Inner Sanctuary Sessions” covers most of Lemon 8’s back
catalogue and there is not one bad track on this mix compilation that has been
spinning on my CD deck since I got it. No doubt in my mind that Harry is one of
the top producers right now. His build ups, senses for rhythm and atmospheric
sounds are amazing, spanning the progressive house and progressive trance
genres. Simple one of the year 2002 best compilations. It’s released on Basic
Beat Recordings and you should be able to get it through your local record shop,
if not then try
here – Check out his
hymn to New York – Enjoy.. |

Electric Calm
|
|
Global Underground
Packed as a DVD, this CD is the first in
a new series from Global Underground called “Electric Calm” and features tracks
from Global Underground’s single labels Quad and Coded. The 11 tracks are all
mixed together in one continues mix by The Forth in a beautiful flow and it’s an
album that you can sit down to at home and relax and listen to. It’s a chill out
album that takes you on a journey in sounds and rhymes. BEATUTIFUL – In my book
